About Gary
Drawing from the inspirational backdrops and characters of the American West, Roller blends heartfelt vision with the drawing and sculpting skills to create works that enrich the lives of people.
Roller, doubling as a musician, is well known for his long time association with Michael Martin Murphey’s Wildfire Productions. In that role he has performed on the Tonight Show, Austin City Limits and many other national broadcasts and thousands of concerts across America.
He has been commissioned by George Strait to create his portrait. He recently was chosen to create the bronze Willie Nelson award for the Texas Heritage Songwriter Hall of Fame. The piece has been awarded to Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Roger Miller, and Ronnie Dunn.
Many celebrities and institutions collect his works including: George Strait, The Walt Disney Company, Wynonna Judd, Suzy Bogguss, Michael Martin Murphey, and The State of Texas.
Gary considers the Taos/Red River area of Northern New Mexico to be his creative and spiritual home, performing summers in Red River at Murphey’s 3M Chuckwagon amphitheater. When not touring music shows and art events, Gary returns to The Ranch At Taos — the gallery, studio and summer campfire venue home to his circle of friends. The Ranch at Taos Gallery on Kit Carson Road is where his work is displayed and where he often meets collectors of his work.
